I’m Amanda Scott, a qualified Counsellor based in Holt, near Bradford on Avon in Wiltshire. I offer counselling for both individuals and couples, either in person in Chippenham or online via Zoom. I can also provide walking therapy for individual clients who feel more comfortable outdoors in the natural surroundings of Wiltshire.
Before becoming a counsellor, my background has mostly been in the corporate world where I had the privilege to work with some amazing people, and where I learned an enormous amount about business and people. I have always been drawn to people—what motivates them, how they think and feel, and how their experiences shape their lives and relationships.
This lifelong interest led me to study Transactional Analysis and retrain in a career where I could work directly with people to support change and improve their overall happiness.

Let's be honest, life is hard and at some point, we can all struggle to make sense of how and why we're thinking, feeling and behaving in the ways we do.
We can feel completely stuck, as though we're stuck on a fairground ride that we can't get off.
It can seem like everything we do is a wrong and we're left wondering 'Why does this keep happening?' or 'What's wrong with me?'
The people we have shared our lives with for years, suddenly don't get us any more, there's constant arguing and the closeness and intimacy that used to exist has seemingly disappeared and communication is difficult or non existent.
All of these things can leave us feeling frustrated, lonely and disconnected. And it's scary, because the life wasn't supposed to be this hard, was it?
In these situations, counselling provides an opportunity to pause, reflect and make sense of our experiences. My aim as a counsellor is to provide you with a space where you can explore your own challenges and make sense of what is happening. By increasing your self-awareness and an understanding of your own patterns, you have an opportunity to build your confidence, enable you to make new choices and to move forward with more clarity.
I hold a Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling, and I am currently working towards my CTA-C (Certified Transactional Analyst - Counselling). I am certified neuro-affirming practitioner and hold a qualifications in couples counselling. I am a member of the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA), the UK Association for Transactional Analysis (UKATA), and the Association of Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists (ACCPH).
I work from the perspective of Transactional Analysis, a model that helps us understand how we relate to ourselves and others. TA is considered to be one of the most accessible models of psychology and I love sharing some of the theory with clients. Together, we will look at the patterns that may be keeping you stuck in your life and explore how they developed using TA theory. Through this process, you can begin to recognise when these patterns are occurring, name what is going and then you have the option to choose to do something different for a better outcome. This ultimately helps you to make effective changes for yourself, strengthen your relationships, and move towards a happier life.
The relationship between therapist and client is at the heart of effective therapy. I place a strong emphasis on creating an atmosphere of trust, honesty and safety so that you feel heard and understood. We will work at your pace.
I am also trained to work with Autistic and ADHD clients, both as individuals and within couples, working to a neuro affirming approach that embraces neurodiversity, in whatever form it presents itself, always recognising and valuing the different ways of experiencing the world.
So whether you are neurotypical or neurodivergent, you can be assured that your issues and experiences can be explored with understanding and without fear of judgement.
I work with a wide range of challenges, including but not limited to the following:
Anxiety
Depression
Communication difficulties
Relationship challenges (separation, divorce, step-families)
Eating disorders
Neurodivergence
(Autism, ADHD)
OCD
Addiction
Work-related stress
Personal growth and self-esteem
Individual sessions last for 50 minutes and give you dedicated time to focus on yourself, your challenges, and your goals. These sessions can take place online, in person, or as walking therapy if you feel more comfortable in nature. The fee for individual counselling is £55 per session.
Couples therapy offers the chance for people to improve communication, rebuild trust, and navigate the challenges that can arise in a relationship. I work with adult couples (including neurodivergent, same sex couples and familial couples). Sessions last 75 minutes, giving both parties a space to be heard. The rate for couples is £80.
For some people, sitting face-to-face in a room can feel intense. Walking therapy (individuals only) provides an alternative, combining the benefits of counselling with the calming and grounding influence of the outdoors. We might walk together at a pace that feels comfortable for you, or find a quiet spot to sit and talk.
Walking therapy is available locally, around Bradford on Avon and the surrounding areas. We would start with an initial Zoom meeting to make sure this approach feels right for you.
I am based in Holt in Wiltshire, and welcome clients from across Wiltshire and Somerset. Many of my clients come from Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, Melksham, Bath, Chippenham, Devizes and Corsham, as well as from further afield, (including internationally), via online sessions
I also work in person in Chippenham, where I have access to therapy rooms which offer a professional and welcoming space for counselling.
If you are considering counselling, I would love to hear from you. I offer a free introductory consultation, giving you the chance to ask questions and get a sense of whether this feels right for you.
